The History of Uchab Bagh

Named in the honour of the Grandmother of current generation scions, ‘Uchab Bagh’ is homage to Kanwarni Sahib Uchab Kanwar- one of the most revered woman of Siryari Nobles Family. This bagh had the privilege of being transformed into an Orchard that was managed under the guardianship of Kanwarni Uchab Bai Sa.

Wrapped in the vibes of a Colonial-era, the story of Uchab Bagh goes back to 1942 when this abode got designed in Indo-Saracenic Architecture Style. The charming beauty of this estate is made ever more gorgeous with perfectly manicured lawns, a courtyard that has hosted several celebrations for 8 Decades and 6 rooms that become your cozy cocoons while you unwind away from the hustle-bustle of daily chores.

The Nobles of Siriyari

As the proud custodians of an ancestral lineage that fought various wars against many invaders, the Noble Family of Sriyari is Known for their bold acts of valour, generosity and public service. Inspired by the heritage of over 400 years, today they serve across several roles for societal development while managing Uchab Bagh Resort. Their initiative of making local siriyari women independent by teaching them knitting and encouraging them to make Rumaals (Mufflers) and Nepali Topis (Hats) has opened up new lines of employment and markets for the locals.

Shri Vijay Singh ji

Grandfather of the current generation members, was elected as one of the acclaimed mediators when the Newly formed Government approached the Princely States. Mentioned by the Iron man of India and India’s first Home Minister Shri Vallabh Bhai Patel, as “The Young Boy from Siriyari” in ” The White Paper on Princely State”.

He was honored and appreciated for being the foremost of jaagirdars (State chiefs) to extend their region as part of the new states that were formed post-independence. Shri Vijay Singh Ji played an important role in the “Re-organization of States” and was even nominated to be a part of the team that sat for mediation with 600 and odd princely states of India. Moreover, he was also inducted as part of the 3-member committee during Kashmir Separation – Shri Vijay Singh ji represented Kashmir’s Maharaja Hari Singh Ji.
At a very young age of 24 Years, Vijay Singh Ji joined jodhpur state services and went on to serve the public for about 20 years. In his tenure, he served as the City Magistrate and evenas the Collector of Jodhpur. After serving on his last posting, he resigned as the Hon’ble Collector and joined Politics.

Current Thakur Family of Siriyari

The Thakur Family has been entrusted to serve the public while holding various important positions in Society.
The Eldest Grand-Son of Shri Vijay Singh ji, “Shri Malinath Singh ji” is the present Thakur of the Siriyari and is dedicated for the betterment of the people and the land of Siriyari.
The Yongest Son of Shri Vijay Singh Ji, “Shri Shyam Singh Ji” serves as the Chairman of Marwar Junction Cooperative Marketing Society. A staunch supporter of Preserving Ecology, Wildlife and Heritage, Shri Shyam Singh Ji has also been the Former Member of the “Wildlife Advisory Board, Raoli Todgarh Sanctuary”.
A Hotelier on a Mission – Today, with strong support from his two sons, Samarveer Singh and Sanjam Rao, Shyam Singh ji devotes his efforts as a Hotelier who’s developing Uchab Bagh Resort into the Most Hospitable Destinations of Rajasthan. Siriyari, Pali, Rajasthan.
The women of the Nobles Family are also leading the charge when it comes to serving the public, as has been the legacy of family. The Daughter-in-law “Shrimati Dakshita Singh Ji” serves as the Hon’ble Sarpanch of Siriyari in Pali District of Rajasthan.

Affiliation with Jain Tera-Panthi Community

The affiliation and camaraderie shared by the Siriyari Thakur family and the Jain Tera-Panthi Community goes back to more than 200 years ago when Thakur Saab came forward to assist the Acharyas in the establishment of “Acharya Shri Bhikshu Samadhi Sthal” in Siriyari.
With thousands of devotees arriving in Siriyari every month to visit the samadhi of “Siriyari Ro Sant”, Uchab Bagh Resort plays host to several Jain families. Right from their food preferences to their stay and travel plans, everything is meticulously planned by the Thakur family and their staff. This Samadhi Sthal in Siriyari is a pious place for the Shwetamber Jain Tera-Panthi Community and what could be more graceful than to observe that for all these years passed by, the “Mukhya Puja” is always devoted to Thaakur Saahab. Moreover, 8 acharyas of the Jain Tera-Panthi Community have visited the Garh to bless the Siriyari Thakur Family.

The Temple of the Uchab Bagh

Uchab Bagh Resort also has a temple devoted to a Sadhu. The story goes back to over 100 years back, when the stables on this estate had a sadhu working on them. As a tribute to the service of sadhu ji, the thakur family dedicated a small temple to the Sadhu. Every morning and evening puja is performed in this temple with full honors extended as a mark of respect for the devotion of Sadhu to this estate.
